A: The team bringing you this site,
and the tools on it--have been developing software together for about 15 years.
Most of the software we have developed has been for other publishers and companies.
Recently we have begun publishing and developing our own products again. To
learn more about our other products and history, please visit our parent site
www.ProlificPublishingInc.com.
A: I don't like the motto, "Don't blame
your tools." The first thing we do is blame our tools. But if we are going to
throw stones (the first tools), then we should be ready to build our own.
ViewGadget
started as a simple tool we used internally because we look at a LOT of art,
and were tired of waiting for big clunky paint program and image viewers to
load.
FTPGadget
was created because even the most popular File Transfer Protocol product is
overly complex, and lacking simple features that help us get our job done. Also,
we believed we could bring this product to both Linux and Windows with very
little effort. Giving our MIS, and MIS (IT, IS) everywhere a tool they could
use at home, and in the office.
A: The name "Gadget" implies; something
cool, small, easy to use, something that solves a problem. Like a belt-buckle
beer-bottle opener, or a Leatherman tool. Most software takes itself a little
too seriously. We have lost that maverick man-on-his-own pride. We at ProGadget
are proud to make Gadgets. Little applications that make life a little easier.
